Kia further explains its plans for the future and puts more concrete figures on what it wants to achieve by 2030. The keyword: electrification.
Kia started this year with a new logo, a new slogan and fresh goals for the future. The biggest achievement for the coming years is that seven all-electric newcomers will arrive on the modular E-GMP platform. The first of these, internally referred to as ‘CV’, will be published this year. The other six will be published until 2026. In addition, five more models are being developed based on existing EVs, Kia explains today. Probably cars in the spirit of the e-Soul and e-Niro, which in turn will be available with both combustion engine and fully electric.
Ultimately, it should lead to a substantial share of fully or partially electrically powered, new-sold Kia cars by 2030. In that year, 40 percent of the cars sold must be BEV, HEV or PHEV. All together, such powered models should ensure 1.6 million cars sold that year. Focused on fully electric cars, Kia is counting on 880,000 units in 2030.
Autonomous driving
Kia also announces some details of the first purely EV-available model, which we recently saw. According to the Highway Driving Assist brand, this will receive Level 2, with which the car can take a large part of the driving on the highway for its driver. Not yet literally off your hands, because if you are not with your hands on the wheel for too long, you will receive another warning. As of 2023, however, the autonomous technology in electrically powered Kia’s will be scaled up to level 3. This means that you really should be able to leave everything to the car and, strictly speaking, you no longer have to stay focused. Then by then only the legislation must allow this.
