Kia Sonet was just different

Like many other car brands, Kia also offers models elsewhere in the world that you cannot buy at all in the Netherlands. And a lot too. One of those unknown models here is the Kia Sonet, a crossover that was just different.
The Stonic is the smallest crossover that you can buy from Kia in Europe, but that model is certainly not available everywhere. Depending on the market in which Kia is active, it offers the more SUV-like Seltos, but that is not the only relatively compact long-legged Kia that is unknown in Europe. In various growth markets, the brand offers a crossover under the Seltos: the Sonet. The Kia Sonet has been in operation since 2020 and has now returned from a session on the cutting table with a tightened face.

Where the Stonic, known here, shares its technical basis with, among others, the previous generation Hyundai i20, the Sonet is on a variant of the platform that also serves the Hyundai Bayon, the current i20, the Kia Ceed and the Hyundai i30. The Sonet for the Indian market is – to comply with local tax regulations – with a length of just under 4 meters shorter than the 4.12 meter long variant that Kia sells elsewhere in the world.

The updated Kia Sonet has been given a new snout with not only a more angular grille, but also completely new and especially flatter headlights with an LED extension at the bottom. New bumpers? From the party. The same applies to a revised rear section with fully connected rear lights, where the part that is not in the tailgate now runs further downwards. The new brand emblem, which has now become established, is located under the rear lights.
In India, the Kia Sonet is available with the 120-hp 1.0 T-GDI, which is well-known in Europe. Kia also supplies a turboless 1.2 petrol engine with 83 hp and a 116 hp powerful 1.5 CRDi diesel engine.
Do you like the Kia Sonet more or less than the Stonic delivered in the Netherlands?
