Kia shows Light Tactical Cargo Truck

Kia showed two military study models at the International Defense Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates. We welcome: the Kia Light Tactical Cargo Truck and the Bare Chassis Concept.

Kia previews new equipment for the South Korean armed forces with the Light Tactical Cargo Truck. The newcomer, developed in collaboration with the South Korean government organization Defense Acquisition Program Administration, is built around a modular chassis that allows the arrival of both short and long versions, as well as armored and unarmoured variants. It is also possible to provide the Light Tactical Cargo Truck with weaponry.

The Light Tactical Cargo Truck has room for four people and is equipped with a 225 hp Euro 5 diesel engine that distributes its forces to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The thing has independent suspension all around, a limited slip differential and is equipped with air conditioning. Kia is still keeping extensive technical specifications under its cap.

Kia Bare Chassis

Kia foresees a role for the Light Tactical Truck as a mobile communication center, but it can also be used for passenger and freight transport. The variant visible in these photos can accommodate ten soldiers including equipment and has a luggage compartment in the back that can transport up to 3 tons of material. Kia will also show the Bare Chassis Concept during the International Defense Exhibition & Conference (IDEX), in fact nothing more than a Light Tactical Cargo Truck that has been stripped of its superstructure.
