Kia brings a brand new generation of the Sorento to Geneva. The Koreans now show new design sketches from the fourth generation of the SUV.
In the first week of March, the Geneva Motor Show is the stage on which Kia presents the fourth generation of the Sorento. That new SUV, which carries internal code MQ4, has appeared several times with camouflage stickers and Kia has already shown two design sketches of the model. Today the Koreans are taking up the pencil again.
The new Sorento is the technical brother of the new Hyundai Santa Fe. The SUV gets a fairly angularly designed carriage with a fairly aggressive look into the world. The flat headlights seem to blend somewhat into the grille and are fitted with boomerang-shaped LED strips at the bottom. On the back we see two upright rear lights, with small shoots in them. In terms of form, these are somewhat reminiscent of the specimens that Kia screws on the back of the Palisade that is not available here.
For the first time there is also more to see from the inside of the Sorento. The dashboard is relatively simple in design, but is decorated with a number of striking details. Just like in the i10, the infotainment screen is optically connected by a plastic frame to the digital set of instruments, although the screens themselves do not overlap. The vertically oriented outflow openings give the cockpit a fairly tough appearance and a round selection button has been placed on the center tunnel to control the transmission. You won’t find a regular automatic lever in the Sorento.
The new Sorento will most likely not only be available with regular petrol and diesel engines, but also with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Last year, Kia sold only sixteen Sorentos in the Netherlands, because cars of this size are hit hard by the Dutch bpm. The Sorento is officially presented in Geneva and then we have all the information.
