Kia Sorento also as PHEV

Kia unveils the previously promised Sorento Plug-in Hybrid. This version is an important player for our market, because with its lower emission the price promises to be a lot more favorable. The Sorento PHEV will be at the dealers at the beginning of 2021.

At the beginning of this year, Kia showed the brand new Sorento. The engine list of the gigantic SUV was also shared, which at the time only contained a hybrid. Kia is changing that with this plug-in hybrid. Although the average CO2 emissions of this PHEV is the lowest, it does get the most power. Under the hood, a 1.6-liter T-GDi petrol engine with 180 hp and 265 Nm of torque works together with an electric motor of 66.9 kW (90 hp) and 304 Nm of torque. The combined power comes out at 265 hp and 350 Nm of torque. In the hybrid, the same 1.6 T-GDi works together with an electric motor. The latter is good for only 60 hp, which brings the total power of that version to 230 hp.

898 liters

With the PHEV, the battery draws its power from a 13.8 kWh battery pack. The official electric range and CO2 emissions are not yet known, so they will follow at a later stage. The Sorento PHEV offers space for five to seven occupants. With only two rows of seats, the Kia swallows 898 liters of luggage, while the third row of seats folds up has 175 liters of luggage space. Just like the well-known Sorento Hybrid, the Plug-in Hybrid has various screens, such as a 10.25-inch touch screen for the infotainment and a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation behind the screen.

2021

The Kia Sorento PHEV will be at the dealers at the beginning of 2021. Prices will follow in the run-up to that moment. The standard warranty of 7 years and 150,000 kilometers applies to both the engine and the battery pack.
