Permanently different

Kia expanded the Ceed family in 2019 with the XCeed. That crossover descendant of the Ceed series is about to be facelifted, following its more conventionally shaped lower sister models.
The current generation Kia Ceed was presented in 2018 and went under the knife in 2021. In 2019, Kia added the XCeed to the Ceed family, so it’s hardly surprising that the crossover is getting an upgrade about a year after the regular Ceed range went under the knife.

Kia releases two design sketches on which the facelifted XCeed can already be seen. The XCeed has always had a completely different body than the regular Ceed hatchback and that does not change with the refresh. That means that the new XCeed straight from the front again does not resemble its sister models. The XCeed retains its far front fenders in diving headlamps, but the layout of the light units has been modified. The LED daytime running lights are now made up of three vertical lines instead of four dots. Kia apparently gives the XCeed a more dynamically designed front bumper and also adjusts the grille. Between the revised grille and the border of the hood, Kia sticks its new brand logo, which the current Xceed also already has.

Just like the GT and GT-Line versions of the Ceed Hatchback, the XCeed also appears to have stubbornly filled taillights with a kind of honeycomb motif. Kia also revises the bumper at the rear, although the differences with those of the outgoing model seem less significant. The silver-coloured skid plate is now partly filled in by a body-coloured element. Kia also promises adjustments to the interior, although you should mainly count on a renewed infotainment system and the arrival of other materials.
Kia also mentions the return of the plug-in hybrid powertrain. In addition, it is obvious that the 1.0 T-GDIs also receive support from mild-hybrid technology in the XCeed. The introduction of the refreshed Kia XCeed will take place on July 18.
