Kia’s latest crossover in pictures

Kia has a brand new crossover in the wings: the Sonet. The manufacturer is now releasing new images of that compact long-legged. The interior of the new crossover can be seen for the first time.

This summer, Kia will pull the canvas off the Sonet, a completely new compact crossover, of which the brand is now releasing a set of new design sketches. It is not the first time that Kia has presented a digital drawing of the Sonet. It is the first time that the rear and interior of the new crossover are also being shown.

For the production version of the Sonet, Kia sticks to the design of the Sonet Concept that it presented to the world at the Delhi Auto Expo in February this year (photos 5 and 6). Just like the front, the rear of the less than four meters long crossover almost completely matches that of the study model. One small difference: where the brand name Kia was previously written in the light bar connecting the taillights, Kia simply sticks the regular Kia logo on the tailgate bodywork on the production version.

More interesting is the interior of the Sonet, especially when you consider that the Sonet Concept had to do without an interior and therefore gave no indication of the workplace of the final production version. The Sonet gets an interior with the digital instruments optically fused with the adjacent 10.25-inch display that belongs to the infotainment system. The outlets are strikingly rectangular. The vertically oriented units are somewhat reminiscent of the ventilation grilles in the Sportage.

Kia Sonet

According to Kia, the Sonet will soon be sold in large parts of the world, but the car will not come to Europe. This is partly due to the fact that Kia already offers the Stonic here. The Sonet will be marketed in countries such as India and it is very likely that the compact crossover will also receive South American asphalt under its wheels. On August 7, Kia draws the curtain from the Sonet in India. Once on the market, the car has to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. After the Seltos, the Sonet will be the second Kia to see the light of day in India.
