Building modern versions of icons from the past seems to be a trend in the world of exclusive cars. Kimera Automobili is a new Italian manufacturer that gives the Lancia 037 Stradale a modern face. The Italians are already shining some light on their creation. The unveiling will take place next month.
The idea of modernizing icons from the past is not exactly new. The Italian company Automobili Amos is currently doing it with the Lancia Delta Integrale and now Singer has built up a considerable reputation with its modern interpretations of the old 911. Kimera Automobili has now come up with such a project based on the Lancia 037 Stradale. The car does not yet have a name and Kimera Automobili does not provide technical information yet. The company does say that the car ‘exists’ and is ‘real’. Since only 207 copies of the original 037 Stradale were built, it is unlikely that Kimera will use the saw.
In any case, the teaser images show a silhouette that clearly shows similarities with that of the 037, whereby Kimera, incidentally, seems to have taken over the rear spoiler from the rally version of the Lancia. Four round LED headlights are visible at the front and the wheels are partially closed. The original Lancia 037 Stradale had a 2.0 four-cylinder with supercharger and 205 hp behind the front seats. How much power the Kimera will get is still unclear. The company does report that the car is being built in a limited series. The unveiling is scheduled for May 22.
