A year after the introduction of the Norden 901, Husqvarna has added the Norden 901 Expedition, according to the Swedish Austrians, a new highly capable bike designed to offer endless exploration.
A Norden 901, but equipped with some accessories from its own catalog plus longer suspension travel to be able to go even more extreme off-road, that is the new Norden 901 Expedition in a nutshell.
To start with the latter, Husqvarna has fitted the Norden 901 Expedition with new, what it claims is “off-road-specific” WP XLPOR suspension with 240mm of front and rear travel, not much more than the 220mm front and 215mm rear of the standard Norden 901. Of course, the WP suspension can be fully adjusted both front and rear.
For maximum comfort over long distances, Husqvarna has equipped the Norden 901 Expedition with some “Husqvarna Technical Accessories” as standard. For early risers, especially those who want to head to Siberia, heated grips and a heated seat (only for the rider, not for the duo) should make that ride a bit more pleasant.
In addition, a Touring windshield has been mounted, which, according to Husqvarna, should significantly reduce fatigue. Especially at high speed, the wind must now flow around the engine, so that you are completely out of the wind.
For easier maintenance and better protection, the bike now has a center stand and modified Engine Guards, while the Connectivity Unit means you don’t have to worry about getting lost. That is, provided you have installed the Ride Husqvarna Motorcycles App on your smartphone and the place where you are sitting is included in one of the turn-by-turn+ navigation maps.
Finally, the Norden 901 Expedition is equipped with a set of saddlebags, with a capacity of 36 liters each. That’s not spacious, but spacious enough for when you go to the Ardennes for a weekend. However, we don’t think it will be sufficient for that trip to Siberia, unless you just buy new underwear every time you go.
The Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition is available from mid-March, prices from € 19,200.
