KTM unveils production version X-Bow GTX

KTM has officially unveiled the X-Bow GTX. The racer is made entirely of carbon fiber and has the well-known 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine from Audi under the hood. The GTX is only intended for the track and has various functionalities on board to facilitate use on trackdays.

That’s what KTM is aiming for with the X-Bow GTX: customers who fanatically drive rounds on circuits. In February, the precursor of the GTX already passed, but now the manufacturer is officially unveiling it. The design of the production version is largely similar to that of the concept car. The lines are quite sharp and unlike the regular X-Bow, the GTX has a closed roof. That roof hinges upwards at the front to get in, but you can also squeeze in through the opening side windows. Furthermore, the GTX looks a lot more serious than the X-Bow, which looks more like a kart. KTM emphasizes that it has made the GTX as light as possible. The ‘naked’ carbon fiber almost literally pops your head. It certainly worked, because the GTX weighs only 1,048 kilograms.

That serious theme continues under the hood. It houses a 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine from Audi, which produces 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque. In combination with the low weight, this results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1 hp per 1.98 kg. Thanks to the FIA-approved GT roll cage, the GTX also allows you to participate in official events in the GT rankings. To ensure that the GTX can last for a long time, there is a fuel tank of 120 liters on board. The sequential six-speed gearbox to which the five-cylinder is coupled can handle a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm and the braking system is specially designed for use during endurance events. To ensure that tires can be changed quickly, there is an ‘airjack’ system underneath the GTX, which allows the car to be lifted in no time.

With the X-Bow GTX, you can therefore also participate in events with a professional approach. KTM does not reveal exactly how fast the racer is. The starting price then again, which is 230,000 euros. Indeed, excluding taxes …
