For the gourmet

Remember the Lancia Ypsilon? In Italy it is still very much alive and there is even a completely new one coming this way next year, but we are now going back in time. This copy dates from 1996 and was already new for connoisseurs.
For a long time Lancia was mainly of stately and sporty cars, but in the 1980s it also entered the market for compact city cars. In 1982 the Lancia badge was printed on the Autobianchi A112, a few years later the slightly larger Autobianchi Y10 appeared and it was also sold as Lancia in various markets. However, the model name still did not quite fit the brand and so the number was dropped from the outset as a Lancia-developed successor and the ‘Y’ eventually became the Greek Ypsilon. The Ypsilon presented in 1995 was also a lot more extravagantly lined than the Y10 and thus managed to hide quite well that the technical basis largely came from the Fiat Punto.
That special carriage was not for everyone, although that was not the only thing that turned out to be somewhat in the way of the Ypsilon’s popularity. It was also a bit higher in the market than the average B-segmenter and that was reflected in the price tag, in addition to the chic decoration, among other things. In any case, our first impression in 1996 was certainly not bad and this Ypsilon would eventually become the most successful in our country. That is of course relative, because with 1,460 units in the best year, this Lancia was also not a sales hit here. After all, more than 7,000 of his Fiat cousin went over the proverbial counter every year.
Whoever decided in 1996 that this soft green Lancia Ypsilon should be the one, was therefore from the outset in a relatively select group. A position that they apparently liked, because the Ypsilon did not have to leave for a very long time. Only on May 24, 27 years and two weeks after the purchase, the togetherness was over. Apparently it was a bull’s eye, although it is of course also possible that the Ypsilon turned out to be almost unsaleable. Of course we say the latter with a wink, although it is true that with its striking design and particularly colored interior it is a pretty taste-sensitive offer. We do believe that you can still have a great car here. The Ypsilon has only covered 114,000 km, it is technically well put together in the base and in this case there is also an extensive maintenance history. For €1,950 there must be an enthusiast to be found, right?
