Heritage Customs puts the saw in the Land Rover Defender 90. The result is an open Defender, as we also knew it with the original Defender.

The Dutch Heritage Customs has repeatedly indulged in the current Land Rover Defender and its predecessor. For example, a primal Defender was completely transformed into the most classic machine possible, the current Defender was given ‘rust’ to give it a nice old-fashioned and rough touch and one was also performed in a love theme for a fortunate couple. Dutch designer Niels van Roij is also involved in Heritage Customs, and we know him mainly from spectacular coachbuilding, such as the Ferrari Breadvan Hommage. Now Van Roij has indulged in Heritage Customs on the coach of the Defender.

The result is a Defender 90 convertible. Heritage Customs calls the creation Valliance Convertible. We speak in singular, but that is not quite right. Several designs were immediately presented. We see the Valliance Convertible ‘Solihull Sand’ (photo 1), which gives a very strong nod to the first Defender from 1948. The blue one with the brown roof and the white walltires (photo 2) listens to the name ‘Côte d’Azur’ and must evoke associations with the jet set from the 60s. Then there is also the red ‘Kokkini Paralia’ (photo 3), named after an archaeological attraction on the Greek island of Santorini. A more modern and somewhat rougher version than the other two.

These are some ideas for how to dress up the open Defender if you order Heritage Customs to prepare one for you. There are of course also all kinds of personal wishes to pass on. As an indication price, the company gives €138,500, although it will undoubtedly increase if you want to make something even more special. You have to be quick: there is only production space for five copies next year.
