After a slew of new petrol engines with mild hybrid assistance, Land Rover is now at the cradle of a new line of diesels. They also get a 48V support.
This is evident from reports from the British Autocar. Land Rover is expected to release the new mild hybrid diesels very soon. These are new six-cylinder diesels that are assisted by a 48V mild hybrid system. The new diesels take the place of the existing 4.4-liter V8 diesels. This has been spooned partly by Ford into Land Rovers for about ten years. The blocks will be on the price lists of the Rang Rover and Range Rover Sport.
Autocar talks about two new engines: the D300 and D350. In both cases it is a 3.0-liter with successively 300 and 345 hp. The 48V system, which for example functions as a more efficient start generator and absorbs braking energy, reduces CO2 emissions. Data would indicate that this now comes to 210 g / km.
Early last year, Jaguar Land Rover already presented a new six-in-line petrol engine that comes standard with 48V mild hybrid support. This block was offered in the Range Rover just before the summer. Furthermore, the British are now also fully developing a completely new generation Range Rover.
