Porsche and RM Sotheby’s auction house are joining forces. The very last copy of the previous generation 911 in Stuttgart off the production line is going digital under the hammer. The proceeds of the 911 to be auctioned go to charity.
In late 2018, Porsche introduced the current generation of the 911, a car codenamed ‘992’. Although the new 911 had no secrets for several months in May last year, Porsche lifted the 911 Speedster in New York that month based on the previous generation 911. The 911 Speedster is an absolute swing-away model of the 911 of the ‘991’ generation. The very last copy to be built will go under the hammer.
The 911 Speedster with its intended edition of 1,948 pieces is naturally a rare sight, but the one to be auctioned is truly unique. It is the very last copy of the 911 Speedster, but also the last 911 of the 991 generation that Porsche produces. The car will be online for a week on RM Sotheby’s website. The proceeds of the car will go to the United Way Worldwide Covid-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund, a charity. The 911 Speedster gets a little extra from Porsche: the 911 Speedster Heritage Design Chronograph watch with a value of € 9,950. The watch is finished with the same leather as the interior of the 911 Speedster. When you finally buy the 911, Porsche will give you a tour of Porsche’s development center in Weissach.
The 911 Speedster has a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine behind the seats, a machine that sends 510 hp and 470 Nm to the rear wheels. The Speedster is capable of sprinting to a speed of 100 km / h in four seconds. The 911 Speedster includes a steering rear axle and a manual transmission.
