The Chinese manufacturer Leap Motor has introduced the T03 to the world, a compact EV with a decent range.
Leap Motor showed the first design sketches of the T03 last year, an all-new electric hatchback with a striking design. Although it may be cheap to start immediately with the introduction of a new Chinese model about ‘stolen design’, we can not help noticing any design influences of the Smart Forfour and Renault Twingo.
The T03 is 3.62 meters long, 1.65 meters wide and 1.58 meters high. The distance between the front and rear axle is 2.4 meters. The luggage compartment is basically 210 liters, but who flatters the backseat must be able to carry 508 liters of stuff. The T03 has a 39 kWh battery pack in its bottom, good for a NEDC range of 403 kilometers. According to the WLTP method, this value will be lower, but for a compact city car like the T03 it does not seem like a wrong score.
No matter how small the T03 is, it doesn’t seem to be equipped. Leap Motor speaks of versions with adaptive cruise control and a battery of 13 sensors with which the T03 can also keep itself active between the lines. The little newcomer is even able to park himself. Leap Motor gives the T03 an 8-inch large digital instrumentation and in the center of the dashboard is a 10.1-inch large screen that belongs to the infotainment system. T03 owners receive a telephone application with which the status of the battery pack can be requested, but with which you can also operate the climate control. Leap Motor promises to expand the functionality of the T03 in the future through ‘over the air’ software updates. Things like ABS and traction control are standard.
