The lease market achieved slight growth in the third quarter, according to new figures from the Association of Dutch Car Leasing Companies. The business lease market shows a slight increase, but again the largest growth is visible in the private lease.
Although the current working from home situation seems to continue for a while for many people, the business lease market (among VNA members) grew by 0.1 percent in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. For vans, a higher growth was visible at 1.3 percent. This growth is partly due to the increase in the number of online orders from web shops. The largest increase is due to the private lease. That part of the VNA fleet grew by 3.9 percent in the past quarter. The total size of the VNA fleet has increased to 987,000 cars.
An advance is also visible with regard to electric driving: in the third quarter of 2020, according to the VNA, an estimated 35 percent of business drivers opted for some form of electric driving, compared to 22 percent last year. Whether the total growth of the lease car fleet will continue in the last quarter of this year depends, according to the VNA, on how the economy develops. Many lease cars that were ordered in 2015 are now being returned. The VNA hopes that this development can contribute to a further greening of the vehicle fleet.
The VNA also predicts that a great need for individual mobility will lead to an increasing interest in private leasing. Are you also considering joining the private lease fleet?
