Lex Kerssemakers leaves Volvo

Lex Kerssemakers, the Dutch Volvo CEO who in his last position is Senior Vice President Global Commercial Operations, will step down after the summer.

Kerssemakers (62) reports this on his LinkedIn page. It is a big and important step for both the Dutchman himself and Volvo, because Kerssemakers has been involved in high positions with the Swedish car brand for 38 years. Kerssemakers was part of the Executive Management Team for 16 years and was responsible for, among other things, the Americas and the Europe, Africa and the Middle East region. In his last position, he is responsible for the worldwide commercial activities of the brand, which is now of course in the hands of the Chinese Geely. Kerssemakers left a significant mark on Volvo and is known as an accessible and authentic person. We spoke to him several times, including in 2017 and 2019.

Kerssemakers wants to leave after the summer and is ‘fully operational’ until then. Of course, he also promises a good transfer to his successor, who has not yet been chosen.
