Lexus teases next generation GX

With a few teaser plates, Lexus is warming up the American, Australian and Asian markets for an all-new Lexus GX, the luxury brother of the car we know here as the Toyota Land Cruiser.

In 2021, Toyota presented an entirely new generation of its Land Cruiser for the first time in fourteen years, after which a new Lexus LX was also unveiled a few months later. The Lexus LX is the luxury brother of the full-size Land Cruiser that you can no longer buy in the Netherlands. A car that is for sale in the Netherlands is a different and a bit smaller Land Cruiser, which is known on the international market as the Land Cruiser Prado. That car will in all likelihood also get a successor soon, because its Lexus variant – the GX – is already being teased.

Lexus throws two images into the world almost without any context, showing a piece of the front and a piece of the back of the next-generation GX. On the plates we see two light areas designed with relatively straight lines, the front of which is hidden under a roughly formed hood. At the back, the new GX gets a light bar, as befits a modern Lexus – and cars from many other brands.

Not for the Netherlands

However, the chance that you will see exactly this light bar in a traffic jam is not great. In all likelihood, the Japanese will not deliver the next GX in the Netherlands or Europe either, because previous GXs were not for sale here either. Toyota’s new Land Cruiser Prado, which we expect to introduce to you shortly, will probably come back on the market here, but without the Prado addition.
