Chic cousin of Toyota Grand Highlander

Lexus presents the TX; a brand new model above the RX. The Lexus TX offers optional space for seven people and hides well-known technology under its remarkably quietly designed body.
A breath of fresh air is blowing through the Lexus international model range. It recently presented the compact LBX intended for us and now also comes with the brand new GX and TX. Those two just don’t come this way. Nevertheless, we would of course like to take a moment to think about it and the TX is certainly worth a closer look.

Lexus TX.
For starters, he may look somewhat familiar to you. The nose of the TX is reminiscent of that of the LBX, as both high-legs are drawn according to Lexus’ new design philosophy. Furthermore, the two have little to do with each other and we have to look over the fence at Toyota to find more leads. After all, the Lexus TX is essentially the more luxurious cousin of the Toyota Grand Highlander.
Where the Toyota Grand Highlander, as its name indicates, is a wider alternative to the Highlander, which is also available here in the Netherlands, the Lexus TX is that for its brand colleague RX. And spacious, it certainly is. That is also allowed; the Lexus TX is a sturdy SUV with its 5.17 m length, 1.99 m width and 1.78 m height. The wheelbase is the same as the Grand Highlander at 2.95 m, but the TX is 5 cm longer overall. The Lexus TX offers space for up to seven people thanks to a third row of seats. With that row of seats in use, there is still 569 liters of luggage space to use. If you throw it flat, there is 1,625 liters of space. Please note; then you can still go out with five people. If you also fold down the second row of seats, no less than 2,747 liters of space is available.

The Lexus TX comes to the market with a choice of three powertrains. First of all, there is the TX 350. It has a blown 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 275 American horsepower and is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In principle, it is front-wheel drive, but it is also available with four-wheel drive. Above that is the always four-wheel drive TX 500h, a hybrid that combines the 2.4 turbo with an electric motor and 366 hp of system power. Switching is done with a six-speed automatic. At the top of the food chain comes the TX 550h+, a whopping 406 horsepower four-wheel drive plug-in hybrid with a 3.5-liter V6 at its beating heart. It has a CVT and can cover a maximum of 53 km fully electrically. As mentioned, the Lexus TX passes us by. Is that a loss?
