Lincoln Model L100 Concept: Past Meets Future

American luxury brands seem to be increasingly interested in a modern interpretation of old-fashioned luxury. This time it is Lincoln that looks forward to new design with the Model L100 Concept.

Anyone who has a warm heart for Lincoln may know that the Model L was the first car of the brand. With this L100 Concept, Lincoln pays tribute to that classic luxury horse, although Lincoln’s new study model has nothing in common with it in terms of design. The L100 is in fact a wattle of stretched coupé.

Of course, the Lincoln L100 Concept is overloaded with details typical of a concept car. For example, the way in which the study model opens is rather bizarre. The huge rear-hinged doors open while the roof opens up as well. The design of the car itself is free from an excess of conceptual frills. The Model L100 Concept even looks classic with its sleek but rounded lines, despite the fact that the wheels and lighting look very modern again.

With the Model L100 Concept, Lincoln is demonstrating how it envisions the future of a large luxury electric car. There is no need to drive yourself, the Model L100 Concept is on paper capable of going about its business completely independently. In addition, Lincoln is already giving away something about the batteries, which are said to have an enormous energy density. That suggests that Lincoln also envisions a package of solid-state batteries in the car. Because the Model L100 Concept is an autonomous car, the interior is designed very differently than you are used to. We see lounge sofas, a footstool and a large control panel with which the car can be controlled. In addition, the (foot) benches can be folded so that you can sit opposite each other on either side of the interior.

It seems that the major American luxury brands have regained their focus on large luxury low models. For example, Buick showed the Wildcat EV Concept in June and Cadillac conjured up its opulent electric flagship in the form of the Celestiq.
