Unlucky name

You will undoubtedly know LEVC from the most recent incarnation of the time-honoured London taxis: the TX. But LEVC wants to be much more than just a ‘taxi manufacturer’. It comes with an all-new modular electric platform on which it plans to put numerous models in the coming years.
London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) wants to transform itself from a taxi manufacturer into a provider of ‘e-mobility solutions’. Earlier this year it was already known that LEVC wants to grow into an electric volume brand and now it is becoming clearer about the technology on which LEVC will house its new models.
Over the past 2.5 years, LEVC has worked hard together with the Chinese Geely to develop a brand new modular Space Oriented Architecture EV platform that has been given a somewhat unfortunate abbreviation in the Netherlands. That Geely has been involved in the development of the – yes – called SOA platform is not surprising. After all, LEVC is one of the many brands in the portfolio of that huge car manufacturer.
The SOA platform is suitable for electric passenger cars and commercial vehicles in various sizes, although you should not expect compact cars on it. According to LEVC, the modular base has been developed with a view to cars and commercial vehicles ranging in length from 4.86 to a very respectable 6 metres. The new hardware is suitable for vehicles with a wheelbase of 3 to 3.8 meters. Rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive? It’s all possible. LEVC can store battery packs with a capacity of 73 kWh to 120 kWh in the platform and speaks of cars with an electric range of almost 700 kilometers. The SOA platform must also be suitable for the implementation of software and hardware that makes autonomous driving (level 4) possible.
