Lotus’ break with the past

Is Lotus always the brand of the lightweight sports models? Well no. In the form of the Eletre, the brand presented an electric SUV weighing about 2,000 kilos this year. Lotus now not only releases the technical specifications, but also the Dutch prices.
In an era where a Hummer is an electric car and Ford sells an electric SUV with ‘Mustang’ in the name, an electric SUV from Lotus isn’t even such a crazy concept anymore. In March this year, the brand, which derived almost its entire raison d’être from the production of lightweight sports models, presented the Eletre, a 5.1-meter long sporty electric SUV weighing about 2 tons. Lotus already called that the Eletre would be at least 600 hp powerful, but kept the engine specifications under wraps for a while. Until today. What seems? Lotus is honest.
The Lotus Eletre is available with two different powertrains, the least potent produces 612 hp and 710 Nm. That powertrain is located in the simply Eletre called ‘entry-level’ and in the Eletre S. This accelerates the British plug-in SUV to a speed of 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. In the bottom is a 112 kWh battery that is good for a range of 600 kilometers. The absolute top version is called in full Lotus Eletre R. It has a whopping 918 hp and 985 Nm strong set of electric motors with which the colossus can reach 100 km/h in just 2.95 seconds. In contrast to the Eletre and Eletre S, this variant has a second ‘gear’. The Lotus Eletre R also has the 112 kWh battery, although its WLTP range with 490 kilometers is a lot more limited than that of the less powerful versions. If you shamelessly give the Eletre R its failure, you should be able to reach a top speed of 265 km/h with it.
Prices and equipment Lotus Eletre
The 612 hp Lotus Eletre has a starting price of €97,690 in the Netherlands. For the Eletre S you will lose at least €123,090. For the 918 hp top version Eletre R you tap €153,090 in our country.
Lotus Eletre
The version simply called Eletre has things like active air suspension, matrix LED headlights, a torque vectoringsystem, a grille with active louvers and 20-inch five-spoke alloy. An induction charger, 12-way adjustable front seats, four-zone climate control, an extensive audio system with 15 speakers, a 15.1-inch infotainment screen and a whopping 29-inch measuring head-up display are also standard. A Lidar system that brings semi-autonomous driving skills to the Eletre is also standard. The Eletre S adds to the above things such as privacy glass, an active rear spoiler, mood lighting, soft-close doors, automatically dimming mirrors, a more extensive audio system and a more complex air purification system. The R version has the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack as standard, which brings, among other things, rear-wheel steering, a roll stabilization system and a whole range of carbon fiber accents to the Lotus Eletre.
