The Lotus Emira is a special model. The new coupé is the last Lotus car to be supplied with combustion engines. The brand is now releasing more technical specifications of its model that will pave the way to an all-electric future of Lotus.
Lotus pulled the Emira out of the top hat in the middle of this year, the very last new model from the English sports car manufacturer that is still endowed with combustion engines. The Emira comes on the market with a 3.5 V6 from Toyota and is also available with a blown 2.0 from Mercedes-AMG. The V6 comes first and it is the Emira V6 that Lotus now releases more technical data and prices.
Just like in the Evora, the 3.5 V6 from Toyota is a six-cylinder with supercharger, which in the Emira is good for 405 hp and 420 Nm of torque. At least, if you order the Emira with a six-speed manual transmission. You can also order the Emira with a six-speed automatic transmission. In that case, the powertrain is 10 Nm more powerful with 430 Nm. The manual Emira with V6 has 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. If you opt for the automatic, the 0-100 sprint is over 0.1 seconds earlier. The top speed of the Emira is 290 km/h, regardless of the selected transmission. Are you charmed by these numbers? Then bring at least €142,693 to Van der Kooi Sportscars. Small side note: according to Van der Kooi Sportscars, this Dutch price is still subject to change, as it is based on the German price and has been converted to what the Dutch price could be.
Mind you, that small one and a half tons is a temporary starting price that applies to the special First Editions that Lotus of the Emira V6 brings to our country. This version is of course packed with extras. The Emira First Edition sits on 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, behind which hide Lotus-branded brake calipers. Standard equipment includes titanium exhaust tailpipes, heated and electrically folding side mirrors, a reversing camera, automatic windscreen wiper and front and rear parking sensors. In addition, various exterior parts of the First Edition are finished in black. Also standard are twelve-way electrically adjustable seats with memory function, the same applies to an extensive infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Lotus also gives the Emira First Edition the Drivers Pack and the Design Pack. That first package gives you the choice of the Tour and Sport suspension. If you opt for the milder Tour tuning, Lotus will put the Emira on Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tires. The more tightly tuned Sport dampers come hand in hand with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The Design Pack brings attributes such as privacy glass and sports pedals to the coupé.
But, how does the starting price of the Emira stay under the ton? Next year Lotus will not only bring the regular types of the Emira V6 on the market, the Emira with the 2.0 four-cylinder from AMG will also appear in the showroom in the fourth quarter of 2022. Van der Kooi Sportscars aims for a starting price of around €90,000 for this variant.
