Lotus will soon no longer be the brand as you have known it for a long time. The manufacturer of lightweight English fun machines focuses on an extensive range of electric models. One of these will be an electric SUV, a car Lotus is now showing a detailed photo of.
Lotus’ parent company Geely is dead serious about converting the English sports car manufacturer into a manufacturer with various EVs in its range. Next year Lotus will introduce an electric SUV that is currently codenamed Type 132. Lotus now shows a first glimpse of the Type 132.
According to Lotus, the detail photo shows a part of the active air intakes of the Type 132. We are most likely looking at the front bumper. Although Lotus does not really show much, the hexagonal shapes of the air intakes may give away something of the design language with which Lotus overloads its electric SUV.
The Type 132 is not the only EV from Lotus. In 2023, the brand will introduce an electric four-door coupé (Type 133). A year later, Lotus expands with a second electric SUV. An electric sports car will not follow until 2026. Lotus EVs will have a battery pack with a maximum capacity of 99.6 kWh and will produce 884 hp in their most powerful form. Of course there are also milder variants.
