Lucid Motors has opened the reservations for the Air. In the Netherlands, a deposit of € 900 is required to secure a place in the queue. The top version of the Air – the Dream Edition – is not yet available in our country.
It is a well-known strategy that Tesla also applies: allowing customers to reserve a car by means of an online down payment before it even goes into production. Lucid Motors does that too. The amount of € 900 for the Lucid Air reservation is the same in all Euro countries. For this amount you can choose from the standard Air, the Touring and the Grand Touring. In America, you have to transfer $ 1,000 to reserve one of these variants. The top model, the Dream Edition, requires a down payment of $ 7,500. However, this is not yet available outside the US and Canada. The down payment is not binding, because Lucid says to refund the full amount when you cancel the reservation as a customer. After making the reservation you can configure your car in a personal environment. You can also do without making a down payment get started with the configurator.
In Europe, people have to wait a bit longer, because Lucid will be the first to start production of the Dream Edition from the beginning of 2021. The top model costs $ 169,000 in the US, which is equivalent to € 144,159. This variant has a battery pack of 113 kWh and a power of 1,080 hp. This enables the Air to achieve an intended range of 832 km and to sprint to 100 km / h in just over 2.5 seconds. The Air Grand Touring will follow in mid-2021 and should bring in $ 139,000 (€ 118,000). In Europe, with 800 hp, this is still the most powerful powertrain. At the end of 2021, the Air Touring will follow with 620 hp, a target range of approximately 650 km and a starting price of $ 95,000 (€ 81,036).
Little is known about the cheapest gear, the Air (without add-on). The entry-level model should be on the market in 2022 and has a starting price of ‘under $ 80,000 (€ 68,241), according to Lucid. The prices we have listed have been converted directly from dollars to euros. Lucid Motors has not yet released specific amounts for the Dutch market. These are expected to follow soon.
