The Lucid Air has undergone an official EPA range test in the United States, which has revealed the highest range ever of a production electric vehicle: 837 kilometers.
Lucid himself already expected last year that the Air could set a new record, but this exceeds the expectations at the time. Previously, it was deployed at about 728 km. So it comes out another 100 km higher. The EPA test, the US equivalent of the WLTP test cycle, typically results in a lower range than WLTP. Electrek once calculated that the WLTP range is on average 1.12 times higher than that according to the EPA test, so the Lucid Air would even have a WLTP range of more than 937 kilometers.
The range of 837 km was achieved with a Lucid Air Dream Edition Range, the already sold-out 933 hp sub-topper. Narrowly below that you will find the 800 hp Air Grand Touring, which according to the EPA has a driving range of 825 km. So you won’t miss anything either. The 620 hp Air Touring kicks it up to 650 km. The ‘entry-level’, the 480 hp Air Pure, can also travel 650 km with a full battery, according to the EPA test.
Lucid Motors has already been registered in the Netherlands and it is certainly the intention that the Air will eventually be sold here. Lucid previously reported that it can deliver the first cars in Europe in 2022 at the earliest. Converted here, the Air Pure would cost about €65,000, the Air Touring €81,000, the Air Grand Touring €118,000 and the Air Dream Edition Range €144,000. The Air Dream Edition Performance, which is roughly 1,100 hp strong and a little less far (754 km EPA) costs the same as the Dream Edition Range. Please note: these are still prices converted to euros based on the provisional American prices.
