Lucid Motors is going strong. In Los Angeles, the young EV brand now presents the long-awaited entry-level version of the much-discussed Air. We are digitally introduced to the Lucid Air Pure, a basic model with a range of at least 660 kilometers.
The Lucid Air has already been presented in various flavors. Among other things, there is a spectacular 1,200 hp version called Sapphire and at the other end of the spectrum, Lucid now parks the Air Pure, the long-awaited entry-level version of the electric sedan.
The Lucid Air Pure will enter the American market in 2023 and is currently only proposed in four-wheel drive form with two electric motors with a combined 480 hp, sufficient to help the sedan reach a speed of 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds. An Air Pure with only rear-wheel drive will follow later, but Lucid Motors is not releasing much about that yet.
In the bottom of the Lucid Air Pure is the Long Range Battery Pack, a set of batteries from which the electric sedan squeezes an expected range of 660 kilometers. Please note that this has been determined according to the strict American EPA method. The WLTP range is normally even higher. The Long Range Battery is, according to Lucid, the most compact package it can offer and as a result the Air Pure offers more space in the back seat than its more powerful brothers that do not have the Long Range Battery. According to Lucid Motors, the Air Pure should be able to recharge about 320 kilometers in just 15 minutes.
The Air Pure may be the basic version, but that does not mean that it is sparsely equipped. Lucid gives the Air Pure, among other things, its DreamDrive system that consists of 32 sensors – including a Lidar system – and that brings semi-autonomous capabilities to the sedan. The Lucid Air Pure is also the first Air with an aluminum roof.

The existing Lucid Air Touring (photos 16 to 30) has two electric motors with a combined 620 hp and must be able to complete the 0-100 sprint in 3.4 seconds. The EPA range of this version is 684 kilometers. This version also has the Long Range Battery. pack. Unlike the Pure, the Air Touring is also available with a glass roof.
The 1,200 hp top version: the Lucid Air Sapphire.
Lucid Air Sapphire
The 1,200 hp Lucid Air Sapphire is the absolute top version. From this flavor, Lucid Air is now releasing what it has to offer in terms of speed. According to Lucid, the Air Sapphire should be able to reach a speed of 97 km/h (60 mph) in 1.89 seconds. In just 3.87 seconds you stamp it from a standstill to a speed of 160 km / h. Its expected top speed: 330 km/h. Not even the Tesla Model S Plaid can compete with that.
