Still just as retro
Do you remember the Luka EV from the Czech MW Motors? That classic-looking electric retro rascal was presented in 2018 and has now been renewed! Are you excited for a stubbornly designed and overloaded with classic design electric coupe?
In 2018, we first became acquainted with MW Motors, a Czech-based company that showed the Luka EV to the world that year. The Luka EV has been in digital form for about four years now – no copies have been delivered yet – and has now been renewed in various areas. MW Motors was actually planning to first launch an electric version of the Russian Uaz Hunter on the European market, but that project seems to have been put on the back burner given the relationship with Russia.

MW Motors is therefore completely focused on the Luka EV again. The Luka EV remains a coupé overloaded with classic design elements in which we see influences from both German and English models from a bygone era. The 4.05 meter long coupé has lost its old grille, which was made up of two oval elements, and is replaced by a closed one that runs across the entire width of the front. The bumper, which previously consisted of one part, is now made up of two elements on the updated Luka EV. The Luka EV also gets new side mirrors and wider rear wheel arches to accommodate the new 17-inch wheels, but the rest of the design is hardly messed with.
MW Motors does say that the chassis has been thoroughly improved and that it is also making adjustments to the interior, although the Czechs have not yet shown any images of this. Technical specifications of the renewed Luka EV will be released by MW Motors later. The original Luka was presented in two flavours. There would be a variant with a 66 hp electric motor on the front axle and a 26.4 kWh battery pack. That version would help the EV weighing 886 kilos with a range of 310 kilometers. The 0-100 sprint would take just under ten seconds. In addition, MW Motors had a variant in the pipeline with an electric motor in each wheel. That also 66 hp variant would have a 21.9 kWh battery, sufficient for a range of 300 kilometers. This lighter variant (815 kilos) should be able to reach a speed of 100 km / h in 9.6 seconds.
The question, of course, always remains when and whether the Luka EV will actually come onto the market. If the car is put on the market for a nice amount, are you one of the candidates?
