Lynk & Co 08: second SUV for Europe

Lynk & Co is doing good business with the 01, at least in the Netherlands. The success that the 01 brings to the brand, it hopes to translate into a second model. This is the Lynk & Co 08, a car that must also get European asphalt under its wheels.

Lynk & Co started the marketing machine that should warm up the mood for the arrival of the 08 a while ago. Lynk & Co has already shown images of its new SUV several times, on which the model was not fully depicted. Until now. On the eve of the international debut of the Lynk & Co 08, the brand is releasing the full look of the car.

The Lynk & Co 08 is the first model from Geely’s brand to incorporate new design elements from The Next Day Concept, which was shown mid-last year. You can see something of that, especially in the lighting at the front and rear. For example, the two longitudinally placed LED daytime running lights on the 08 are more or less connected to each other and the outer one optically runs further into the front screen. At the rear we see segmented lighting running across the entire width with two central vertical elements that seem to emphasize the brand name written underneath. The Lynk & Co 08 has recessed handles in the doors and a striking trim element that dips from the side mirrors down into the front doors.

Technical data of the Lynk & Co 08 are not yet available and the company is also keeping pictures of the interior under wraps for a while. Later this month, the 08 – which will be available with a new generation of (plug-in) hybrid powertrains from Geely – will make its public debut.

In the three years that the plug-in hybrid Lynk & Co 01 has been available in the Netherlands, more than 11,000 units have been sold. In February, the 01 was even the car in the Netherlands for which the most new copies were registered. In January, the SUV was in a certainly not wrong fourth place. If we look at the figures for January and February together, the Lynk & Co 01 can still call itself the most popular new car in the Netherlands.
