Already in the Celts and in ancient Greece, meadowsweet was used and appreciated as a medicinal plant. The two peoples used both the flowers and leaves and the root of the plant as a natural pain reliever.

Today’s naturopathy mainly uses the flowers and young leaves of mädesüß. The most common is the use of meadowsüß as a cold tea against fever and body pain.

So you prepare tea from meadows.

For a cup (250 milliliters) you need a tablespoon of dried meadows.

  1. Cook the water and let it cool to 80 degrees because the essential oils are sensitive to heat.
  2. Let the tea pull about fifteen minutes before you remove the plant parts.

Attention: Since salicylic acid is suspected, similar to Aspirin to be blood -thinning, you should not consume more than three cups a day. The tea is not suitable for people who are sensitive to salicylic acid and pregnant women.

Tip: In order to be able to use the whole year, you can harvest the medicinal herb and dry them like other herbs.
