Four years after the launch of the Multistrada V4, Ducati has renewed its big high-legged bike. In addition to a refreshed design, the Italians have taken the extensive electronics package to an even higher level.
A more extensive deactivation of the rear cylinder bank, more comprehensive monitoring of all sensors via the so-called Ducati Vehicle Observer, new Skyhook EVO semi-active suspension for the S and modified suspension for the standard V4, an extension of radar-controlled functions and a refreshed design – that is, in a nutshell, the 2025 Multistrada V4 and Multistrada V4S.
Starting with the latter. The most striking feature is the nose, which has been given more aggressive proportions thanks to the new razor-sharp headlight unit, bringing it closer to the Panigale V4. The double headlight is emphasized by the new painted parts that completely frame the unit, making it more prominent. Just like the 916 and the 1098.
Then the block. In terms of performance, Ducati has – apart from the adaptation to Euro 5+ – left everything as it was, with a peak power of 170 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 124 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The difference compared to the current model is purely and solely in the deactivation strategy of the rear cylinder bank, which has been widened.
Previously, the rear bench was only switched off when standing still or idling, but now the bench is only switched on again at a certain throttle position or when a certain speed is reached. According to Ducati, this should reduce consumption by 6%.
In terms of chassis, Ducati has raised the swingarm pivot point by 1 mm, which increases the anti-squat effect of the rear suspension. According to Ducati, this should make the Multistrada more precise and effective to ride, even under full load. On the V4 S, the monoshock has been given a larger spring preload range, from 12 to 20 mm.
According to Ducati, this makes the standard calibration more balanced in the different load modes and increases the effect of the automatic lowering function in situations with a higher load, when travelling with luggage and a passenger. The Automatic Lowering Device lowers the rear end by 30 mm when the speed drops below 10 km/h and automatically lowers it above 50 km/h.
The Skyhook DDS EVO semi-active suspension is equipped with a self-levelling function, which guarantees constant adjustment in the “Rider”, “Rider + Passenger” and “Luggage” configurations, so that the vehicle characteristics always remain unchanged. Furthermore, regardless of the selected driving mode, you can now change the suspension response while driving using a switch located on the left of the handlebars.
New for 2025 is a feature dubbed DVO by Ducati – Ducati Vehicle Observer – that should make the Multistrada even safer and more efficient. DVO estimates the forces exerted on the bike and the loads it can support in different riding conditions, simulating inputs from 70 sensors. According to Ducati, DVO, which was developed by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, has refined the strategy of the bike’s cornering ABS and wheelie and traction control.
The new Multistrada V4 also has three levels of EBC (Engine Brake Control), allowing the rider to adapt engine braking to their riding style. Finally, the Electronic Combined Braking System (ECBS), with its advanced strategies and functions, modulates the operation of the front and rear brakes to always guarantee ideal performance, now also based on the load.
In addition to the front-to-rear strategy, which manages the rear brake even when only the front brake control is used, the new Multistrada V4 is now equipped with an unprecedented rear-to-front strategy that optimises braking power when only the rear brake is used.
Finally, the radar technology developed in consultation with Bosch, which was included in a Travel & Radar package that had to be purchased separately in the current model and has two variations for the 2025 version: Sport Travel & Radar and Adventure Travel & Radar.
The new versions feature a centre stand, heated grips and seats, and of course radars at the front and rear. The Sport version adds side cases and forged rims, which, thanks to a weight reduction of 2 kg, make the Multistrada V4 more agile and sporty, while the Adventure is characterised by aluminium cases and spoke rims.
In addition to adaptive cruise control and blind spot recognition, the radar system has now been expanded with Forward Collision Warning, which warns you with a pop-up in the display when you have come too close to the vehicle in front of you.
The 2025 Ducati Multistrada V4 will be available at dealers from November 2024 in the three color schemes Ducati Red, Thrilling Black and Arctic White.
