You can alleviate the first cold symptoms with a cold bath as a home remedy. Their effect is due to the additives, which optimally consist of untreated herbal mixtures and essential oils consist. For colds, additives that are anti-inflammatory, soothing and expectorant are suitable.

The vapors of mountain pine or eucalyptus oil, which are caused by heat, have a beneficial effect on irritated and dry mucous membranes, for example. Additives from herbs such as chamomile, fennel and thyme have an antibacterial effect.

This oil blend includes Mountain pine– and Eucalyptus oil. Ginger oil scores with additional anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties.

Ingredients for a bottle:

  • 500ml olive oil (also almond oil or Jojoba oil are suitable)
  • 20ml eucalyptus oil
  • 20ml mountain pine oil
  • 10ml ginger oil

Production and application:

  • Put the oils in a dark glass bottle and shake vigorously
  • Close the bottle and keep it cool and dark
  • Add a cup of the mixture to the warm bath water
  • Bathe for about 20 minutes and then allow yourself a lot of rest. It is best to take a bath before bed.

Make herbal mixture for the cold bath yourself

You can make a cold bath yourself with peppermint, fennel and chamomile tea – so you probably already have most of the ingredients for this simple recipe at home.

Ingredients for a bath:

  • 1 bag Camomile tea
  • 1 bag Fennel tea
  • 1 bag Mint tea
  • 1 teaspoon anise

Production and application:

  • Bring a liter of water to a boil and let it cool down a bit.
  • Add the tea bags (or the corresponding amount of loose tea) and the anise and let everything steep for 10 minutes.
  • Then strain the broth through a sieve and add it to the warm bath water.
  • Bathe for about 20 minutes. Afterwards, you should treat yourself to a lot of rest, so it is best to take a bath before going to bed.

A homemade cold bath in salt water is considered relaxing and relieves discomfort. Essential oils provide soothing steam that soothes irritated mucous membranes.

Ingredients for a large screw jar:

  • 500 grams of coarse sea salt
  • few drops Lavender oil, Eucalyptus oil, thyme oil depending on the desired intensity (essential oils are very concentrated – usually less is more here)

Production and application:

  • Mix the ingredients well.
  • Fill everything into a large screw-top jar and keep it in it.
  • Add half of the mixture to the warm bath water.
  • Take a bath for about 20 minutes and then allow yourself a lot of rest.

A hot cold bath is especially effective at the first signs of infection: itchy throat, itchy nose, slight shivering? Off to the bathtub! The natural additives can alleviate these symptoms and support the immune system.

However, if the cold is already advanced or has even developed into a severe flu infection, it does not make sense to make a cold bath yourself.
