This year, Balmain has re-released one of the most iconic watches from its own collection. This Haute Elegance model – which was launched in 1987 – was inspired by the famous ‘Antonia’ evening dress from the Balmain couture collection of 1954. This dress was embroidered with an elegant arabesque pattern that became Balmain’s signature style element.
The refined silver-colored dial of the new Haute Elegance watches has an arabesque-decorated center surrounded by Roman numerals and the whole is subtly edged with a pattern reminiscent of the fine weave of the finest fabrics.
The 30 mm watches are ultra-thin (only 4.82 mm) and have a modern shiny green, red or blue bezel with the metal inscription Pierre Balmain underneath, which gives a contemporary touch to the vintage look of the watch. The shiny leather straps are a nod to the ’80s and the original watch that inspired it.
