Make Favorites Bar Visible in Safari

The Favorites bar is not visible by default in Safari. Activate it if you like to open favorite sites super fast.

The Internet browser Safari opens by default with an overview of all Bookmarks. Those are the sites you’ve marked as favourites. But you can also put favorite sites in a so-called Favorites bar. This bar is always directly below the address bar. A website then simply opens with a click on the Favorites bar.

To activate the Favorites Bar on a Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or later:

  • Open Safari.
  • click on Display.
  • click on Show favorites bar.

All Bookmarks will automatically appear on the Favorites bar as well. Create a Bookmark like this:

  • Navigate to the site you want to bookmark.
  • Click on the menu bar at the top bookmarks.
  • click on Add bookmark.
  • Often the name of the site is already filled in. Adjust it if necessary and add a description if necessary.
  • click on add.
