There are many different home remedies that you can use to cure a cold. Onion tea is one of the most natural, easiest and cheapest ways to relieve symptoms such as coughs and sore throats. Studies have shown that the onion has many health promoting properties and is anti-inflammatory. It can therefore be used against stubborn coughs and bronchitis. Plus, onions have many sulfur-containing compounds. According to an interview with Claus Jacob, Professor of Bioorganic Chemistry at Saarland University, after consuming onions, the body excretes these sulfur-containing compounds not through digestion, but through the respiratory tract. They fight cold viruses in the lungs and bronchi.

Enjoying hot tea also provides a pleasant warmth that radiates onto the airways and soothes them.
