Japan is not only the country of sushi, great family cars and high-end watches. It is also the country of Manga. This wildly popular genre of comics and the anime (animation films) based on them is loved everywhere these days. Japanese watch brand Seiko brings us this winter a super cool series of up to 6500 pieces worldwide limited Seiko 5 watches based on the animes Naruto and Boruto.
Earlier this year Seiko already released a series of Seiko 5 watches based on the Streetfighter series. This is now almost sold out everywhere and we think that the Naruto & Boruto watches will go just as fast! Techzle only has two copies of each model in stock. Gone = Gone!
Each of the seven new watches plays an important role in one of the two animated series: Naruto, Sasuke, Shikamaru, Lee and Gaara from Naruto; Boruto (Naruto’s son) and Sarada from the sequel Boruto.
Seiko 5 sports: young, urban and sporty
The ”5” of Seiko 5 stands for the promise that every Seiko 5 watch is equipped with five important features: a strong automatic 4R36 movement, day-date display, water resistance, an embedded crown, and a robust case and bracelet. In addition, the modern Seiko 5 offers reinforced glass and luminous hands and hour markers. And all this for a very reasonable price.
Seiko 5 is therefore popular, especially among younger watch enthusiasts. It is a ‘grown-up’ watch with a fresh, young look and is available in vibrant colors and with different trendy straps.
For the Naruto and Boruto watches, Seiko combines the established values of Seiko 5 with the unique features of the beloved anime characters.
Naruto characters as watches
Naruto Uzumaki
The look of this watch is based on Naruto’s typical Ninja outfit. The worn-looking ring and case symbolize the arduous training required to become Hokage. The title given to the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village where Naruto comes from. You also see the symbol of Naruto’s village on the bezel (glass edge), his pendant inherited from Tsunade at 12 o’clock and the Uzumaki clan Kamon (family crest) on the back of the case.
The spirals on the dial are derived from Naruto’s Jutsu (Ninja technique. The nine orange hour indexes refer to the Nine-Tails sealed within Naruto.
Sasuke Uchiha
The Jutsu ‘Chidori’ of Naruto’s friend and rival Sasuke is reflected in the pattern of the dial. The Jutsu hand gesture is returned at the one, three and eight o’clock positions. The horizontal line in the Hidden Leaf Village symbol on the case edge refers to the scar made by Naruto on Sasuke’s forehead protector. The crown of the watch is engraved with the Clan’s ‘Sharingan’ mark. On the back of the case you will find the Kamon of the Uchiha Clan.
Rock Lee
The colours used on the watch and strap are derived from Lee’s signature jumpsuit and leg warmers. The bezel refers to the other side of ‘The Eight Inner Gates’, of which Lee managed to open the fifth gate and thus obtain the extraordinary ‘Hidden Lotus’. On the back of the case, just like on his heavy ankle weights, are the kanji characters that mean ‘courage’.
Shikamura Nara
Shikamaru’s ‘Shadow Possession Jutsu’ is reflected in the dial of this watch. The black color scheme with green accents and the texture of the inner ring match the character’s clothing. The hour indices are shaped like his favorite Shogi game pieces, and the caseback is decorated with the Kamon of the Nara Clan.
Gaara
With the kanji character for ‘love’ at the one o’clock position, Gaara and the ‘One-tailed’ sealed within him come to life. Swirling sand provided the inspiration for the brown case and the pattern on the dial. A pattern inspired by the mark of his gourd is repeated on the case edge and back.
Boruto characters as watches
Boruto Uzumaki
Like his father Naruto, the Boruto watch features the Jutsu ‘Rasengan’ on the dial, but in a black spiral pattern. The colours of his costume are echoed in the pink accents on the strap and the second hand. The 12 o’clock index is inspired by a bolt that appears in the logo of the animated series. This watch also features the Kamon of the Uzumaki Clan on the back of the case.
Sarada Uchiha
The red gradient of the dial refers to the ‘Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu’, which Sarada inherited from her father Sasuke. The two-tone bezel symbolizes that she inherited the ninja characteristics of both her father Sasuke and her mother Sakura.
The single Tomoe mark at the 5 o’clock position indicates that Sarada is still a young Ninja, in training to improve her ‘Sharingan’. This watch features the Kamon of the Uchiha Clan on the caseback and on the case bezel.
