The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is perhaps one of the most evocative sporty Lancias in the long history of the brand. It is the predecessor of the HF Integrale Evo that has been ‘upgraded’ by the German tuner Manhart.

You mainly know Manhart as a company that sticks gigantic wings, exaggerated wheels and fierce bumpers on models from mainly German manufacturers. BMWs and already sporty Mercedes-Benz models are regularly filled with excessive external extras, but this time Manhart shows a completely different side. It has, in fact, grabbed a Lancia Delta Integrale 16v. This is the Manhart Integrale 400.

The company in Wuppertal says it considers automotive heritage important and calls the current Lancia only a shadow of what it once was. Manhart says he can do nothing else than look at Lancia’s past and decided it was a good idea to give the Lancia HF Integrale 16v a refresh. The Manhart Integrale 400 has a 2.0 four-cylinder, just like the original, although that machine now delivers 375 hp and 550 Nm with the addition of a Manhart turbo, new pistons, connecting rods, a modified camshaft, a new fuel pump and improved cooling. This makes the Integrale 400 just about 175 hp stronger than the original.

Manhart hangs a modified exhaust system with two tailpipes with a diameter of 8 centimeters under the Delta, adjusts the five-speed manual transmission and brings a new clutch to his creation. In addition, Manhart puts the Delta on a coilover, brings modern Brembo braking to the Integrale 400, brakes that manage to hide behind OZ Racing 17-inch wheels. More exterior changes? Certainly. Manhart gives the Delta a spoiler at the top of the rear window and puts some stickers on the classic Italian. The interior is covered with a combination of leather and Alcantara and we see, among other things, a sports steering wheel and an adapted set of instruments.

Sacrilege or success? We leave it to you.
