Maple Majestic aims to become ‘Canada’s global brand’

The new brands pouncing on EVs are popping up faster than spring crocuses. Now a Canadian brand is emerging; Maple Majestic.

Maple Majestic may be a new name, but we know the brains behind it longer. AK Motor is the company behind this new brand. The company, which was founded in Canada and later moved to Poland, is now trying again from Canada. In 2016 it showed an EV with a big nod to the Polish FSO, the Syrena. In the meantime, founder Arkadiusz Kaminski has shifted his focus back to Canada and has thus created the aptly named Maple Majestic. That brand in turn stems from AK Motor’s CANU project (Canadian Automotive New Utilities).

The new brand comes out of the blue and has little traction on the internet, but in a press release it shows itself to be ambitious. It aims to become ‘the global flagship of the Canadian auto industry’. No half-promises, although the car make wash in Canada is quite thin. Maple Majestic kicks off with a series of computer renders. On it we see the brand’s first-born, a still-nameless electric car that clearly comes from the same drawing board as the aforementioned Syrena.

It may not look very professional yet, but there is quite a comprehensive vision behind this car. AK Motor reports that the Maple Majestic has some ‘smarts’ in it that should increase the usability of the electric car. To begin with, the ride height of the car can be adjusted quite a bit. At the lowest it has a ground clearance of 14 cm, at the highest it is 29 cm. In the latter case, the car towers 1.6 meters above the ground, ‘SUV area’, according to AK Motor. Then the car must be more usable on rough terrain or in the snow. Furthermore, the wheelbase is quite substantial at 3.1 meters. Although that may look a bit strange because of the smooth body, it has certainly been thought about. According to AK Motor, there is sufficient space to spoon any larger battery packs into the car, should that be desired for some markets.

The design of the body is not only as streamlined as possible to of course create a lower air resistance, but according to AK Motor also to make it useful for city traffic. The rounded corners and short overhangs are, according to the company, “to make parking and maneuvering easier.” Just so you know. AK Motor is not very modest about how we should see the car. It is ‘not just any sedan’, but ‘a supercar with four doors’. Is noted.

Whether he also delivers such performances is still unknown. In fact, it seems that Maple Majestic does not yet have drive and battery technology in house. AK Motor presents the brand as ‘an initiative that Canada’s suppliers should step into, also for their own good’. They want to provide the car with as much Canadian technology as possible and hope that the government will also respond to this. By the way, another nice detail: according to AK Motor, a range extender can also be placed in the car, just in front of the rear axle. So now still find companies that want to deliver that. We are curious.
