Electric GranTurismo on display and ready for 2023
Now that Maserati is operating under the wings of Stellantis, a remarkably fresh wind of innovation is suddenly blowing. The brand will soon be pulling the curtain on the Grecale, but that is far from the only thing you can expect from the brand. According to year, the brand brings the electric GranTurismo Folgore on the market that you see in these photos. In addition, Maserati will no longer sell any model with an internal combustion engine from 2030.
Maserati Folgore. That is the name of Maserati’s strategy to transform itself into a manufacturer of only electric cars. That’s pretty hard. While Maserati does not currently have a single EV, it will also offer an all-electric version of each model from 2025. Five years later, the brand only supplies fully electrically powered cars.
Maserati GranTurismo
In 2023, Maserati will present its first electric car. That is an electric version of the new GranTurismo of which the brand already shares three photos. Incidentally, the GranTurismo is also available with a powerful petrol engine. However innovative the technology of the GranTurismo becomes, its appearance becomes so recognizable. The new GranTurismo will again become a classically designed coupé with a long hood, curved front fenders and remarkably few screaming lines. The light-alloy wheels of this fully electric Folgore model are striking.
The GranTurismo will not be the only electric Maserati for long. In 2023 there will also be a fully electric version of the soon to be released Grecale. The Grecale will be the smaller SUV brother of the Levante with which Maserati also wants to take advantage of the popularity of SUVs in a lower segment. The MC20 also gets an electric version, the same goes for the Quattroporte and Levante. The Quattroporte and Levante are undoubtedly completely new generations. The Ghibli seems to be the big absentee in Maserati’s electric Folgore line. The brand does not say a word about that competitor of cars like the BMW 5-series.
