Following the Levante, the two Maserati sedans are now available as Trofeo. Just like the SUV, the Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo will have access to a V8 based on Ferrari!
More than two years ago, Maserati presented the most powerful version of the Levante to the world: the Levante Trofeo. That SUV came with a mighty V8, an eight-cylinder that is now available in the complete range of Maserati with the launch of the new Trofeo versions of both the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. The current generation Ghibli is available with a V8 for the first time in its history. As GTS, the Quattroporte was already available with an eight-cylinder, although the Trofeo flavor is much more powerful.
The 3.8-liter V8, built in the base by Ferrari, delivers a generous 590 hp and 730 Nm in the Trofeo versions of the Ghibli and Quattroporte, just as in the Levante Trofeo. In contrast to the Levante, however, with the two sedans, that power is not to all four wheels, but purely and only to the rear wheels. The Ghibli Trofeo rumbles to a speed of 100 km / h in 4.3 counts, the Quattroporte takes 4.5 seconds for the job. This makes the Levante Trofeo slightly faster thanks to its four-wheel drive. The SUV has a speed of 100 km / h on the counters in 4.1 seconds. The top speed of the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo is in both cases 326 km / h. In all three Trofeos you do not have to change gears yourself, an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF takes care of that task.
The Ghibli Trofeo is clearly the sportiest of the two newcomers. Unlike the Quattroporte GTS, not only does it have a mechanical limited slip differential, it also differs more from its regular siblings on the outside. For example, the Ghibli Trofeo, just like the Quattroporte Trofeo, gets a modified nose, completely new grille and various accents made of carbon fiber, but also a new bonnet with extra cooling openings. The pair is on 21-inch large alloy. Nice detail: the slightly boomerang-shaped light signature in the rear lights is a nod to the characteristic units on the rear of the 3200GT. In the interior of the two newcomers, Maserati – also in the Levante Trofeo – screws a new infotainment system. Thanks to sports seats and various accents made of carbon fiber, the whole thing exudes a slightly sportier atmosphere.
