Shortly after coupe

When Maserati pulled the curtain on the new GranTurismo on Monday, the Italians didn’t say a word about the GranCabrio, the homeless version of the GranTurismo. Against the British Autocar, the brand now confirms that it will indeed come – and soon after the closed version. Both are coming next year.
It wasn’t a surprise when Maserati pulled a new GranTurismo out from under the canvas last Monday. It had been clear for some time that there would be a successor to the previous GranTurismo, which was built from 2007 to 2019.
Massimo Capaldi confirms to the British Autocar, head of global products with the brand, now also when the new GranCabrio arrives. In the autumn of 2023, shortly after deliveries of the closed GranTurismo have started, the first GranCabrio’s should appear on the road. The powertrain offer will be the same for both variants. This means that the open version will also be available with both an electric powertrain (761 hp) and a V6 (490 or 550 hp). Prices for the GranCabrio will be slightly higher than for the GranTurismo.
The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, as the electric variant is called, will be the first series-produced open electric car in a higher segment in 2023. Until now, you had to rely on a city car if you wanted to drive electrically and openly: you could only go to Smart and Fiat for that. With the Polestar 6 and MG Cyberster, at least two more homeless EVs are on the way, but they won’t arrive until 2026 and 2024 respectively.
