The Maserati Grecale can be seen for the second time in a short time. Now a little clearer than last time. The new SUV follows the new style of Maserati, of which the MC20 was the first example.
For example, you hear nothing about Maserati for six months and the news is full of it every week. Recently, the Grecale came into focus for the first time and yesterday that applied to the new GranTurismo. Now it’s the Grecale that once again takes the spotlight, as the brand-new SUV is even better visible than in the photos Maserati itself recently sent out, thanks to our spy photographer.
Although the Grecale will be immediately recognizable as the little brother of the Levante, mainly thanks to the typical grille, it is clear that the smaller SUV is drawn according to Maserati’s newer design language. The starting signal for that new chapter of the brand came with the MC20. The new GranTurismo and GranCabrio also get the new family face, which differs mainly from what we are used to because of the larger headlights that continue further back on the nose. The comparison has been made before, but it may be somewhat reminiscent of the pre-facelift Jaguars F-Type and E-Pace.
The Grecale is reportedly still enthroned on the Giorgio base of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, among others, although that is still not entirely certain. After all, that base will soon be out the door and then a completely new model on it would be somewhat surprising. There is also talk of the arrival of a fully electric Grecale, which seems unlikely on that basis. Logically, we can at least expect a mild-hybrid powertrain, such as that of the Ghibli Hybrid. We expect the unveiling of the Maserati Grecale at the end of this year.
