But does that matter?

The starting price of the Maserati MC20 will increase by just under 10 grand, which means that the spectacular Italian will cost at least more than €300,000. The open Maserati MC20 Cielo is even creeping dangerously close to €350,000 …
The Maserati MC20 has never been a bargain and never will be. The two-seater has a 3.0 V6 (Nettuno) with two turbos behind the front seats that produces 630 hp and 730 Nm of power. The V6 with pre-chamber combustion propels the MC20 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The top speed is 325 km/h. The MC20 used to cost €296,545 but is now almost €10,000 more expensive. The result is a new entry price of €306,447. And that is excluding costs for roadworthiness.
Would the potential Maserati buyer care? Probably not. The percentage price increase is less than 3.5 percent. The Maserati MC20 Cielo – the version of the MC20 with electrochromatic dimmable folding glass roof – is also becoming more expensive. The starting price was initially at almost €323,000, but has since been adjusted upwards. And not a little. For a Maserati MC20 Cielo you now tap €343,995. This makes the Cielo more than 30 grand more expensive than a Ferrari Roma Spider (with 3.9 V8) and only negligibly less expensive than the 830 hp plug-in hybrid 296 GTS.
In time, both the MC20 and MC20 Cielo should be available with an electric powertrain. It is not yet known what that electric duo will cost.
