Rival Leclerc drops out

Max Verstappen has again been able to take a lot of points in France from rival Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Leclerc was in the lead, but retired due to an error of his own. The victory was then no longer in danger for Verstappen.
Max Verstappen did a nice job on Sunday at the Circuit Paul Ricard in the hunt for his second world title. The Red Bull driver himself won the French Grand Prix under sweltering conditions. Second place went to Lewis Hamilton, George Russell completed the celebration for this year’s struggling Mercedes with third place. It was the first time this season that two Mercedes drivers were on the podium.
With his seventh victory of the season, Verstappen comes to 233 points in the championship, a large lead of 63 points over Leclerc. He remains second, but sees Sergio Pérez, among others, approaching again. The Mexican came in fourth place on 163 points. Carlos Sainz finished fifth after a rear start and a late pit stop, ahead of Fernando Alonso in the Alpine.
