Mazda will expand its model range next year with two new SUVs. The brand is bringing the CX-60 and CX-80 to Europe. Both are brand new models that also introduce very interesting new engines, including plug-in hybrids and a six-in-line!

Mazda will expand its model range next year with the CX-60 and CX-80. Mazda does not release much news about it, but what the brand reports is indeed interesting. Especially in the motor area. The two SUVs are the first Mazda models to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Those PHEV versions get a four-cylinder petrol engine that is assisted by an electric motor, but Mazda does not say more about it.

Perhaps even more interesting: Mazda confirms that the two models will soon be available with six-cylinder petrol engines. They are not just any six-cylinder, but six-in-line engines with SkyActiv-X technology. Mazda also supplies SkyActiv-D diesel engines, which for the first time are assisted by a 48v mild hybrid system.

Mazda confirms that the CX-60 will be a two-row SUV, while the CX-80 will have three rows of seats, making it a larger seven-seat SUV. It is not inconceivable that Mazda sees a successor to the aging Mazda 6 in the CX-60. not clear.

Mazda is introducing completely different models in the United States. The brand says it will be there with the CX-70 and CX-90. The CX-90 will in any case replace the CX-9. This suggests that the CX-80 will be the successor to the CX-8, an almost 5 meter long SUV, which was never delivered here.
