Full EV offering between 2028 and 2030

Mazda reveals its strategy through 2030. The brand indicates that it will come up with new hybrid technologies in the coming years and wants to offer an electric car in every segment by 2030 at the latest. It also shows a previously unseen coupe in a video.
Mazda has also become convinced of the importance of the fully electric car in the global market and is once again sharpening its electrification plans. Mazda divides the near future into three phases: one from now to 2024, one from 2025 to 2027 and one from 2028 to 2030. For the time being, the brand wants to use its relatively fresh CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90 (and of course with the MX-30 with rotary engine) continue to serve the market and build a solid supply chain. For actual news, we must focus on the second phase.
In it, the brand states that it will come up with new hybrid technologies that should help the combustion engine powertrains become even more efficient. Mazda also wants to unveil the first EVs around 2025 for the global markets that are already expressly asking for them, such as those of the US, China and Europe. According to Automotive News would be accompanied by the opening of a factory for electric Mazdas in the United States. That site also reports that a total of around €11 billion is involved in Mazda’s plans.
EVs will account for 25 to 40 percent of sales by 2030
In the period 2028 to 2030, that money should lead to an EV range across the board, i.e. in all segments in which the brand is active. Where the brand previously wanted a quarter of its range to be an EV in 2030, it now thinks that in 2030 25 to 40 percent of its sales will consist of fully electric cars.
Whether an electric coupé should also take care of that? The Japanese don’t say a word about that. It does show a sporty-lined car in a video with the revised plans that we have not seen before. The ‘Vision Study Model’ shows some similarities from the front and rear to the current Mazda MX-5, but with its silhouette more closely resembles the latest generation Mazda RX-7. For the next MX-5 we expect a mild hybrid powertrain, a possible coupé positioned above it could also have an internal combustion engine on board. Mazda indicates that it does not want to get rid of the combustion engine for the time being and does not want to erase the use of sustainable fuels.
