McLaren 720S in a Gulf jacket

McLaren loves the historic Gulf livery. For the second time in a short period of time, it carries one of its cars in that color scheme. Incidentally, the 720S is not the only McLaren to just come from the paint shop in orange and blue.

Gulf’s orange-blue color scheme, which has become one of the most iconic colorways ever in racing, appeals to McLaren’s imagination. In 2014, a P1 was given a Gulf look on behalf of a customer and McLaren did the same with the Elva more than six months ago. The manufacturer did the latter on its own initiative, due to newly tightened ties with Gulf last year. Now the 720S follows. The livery was hand-painted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). A job that, according to McLaren, took no less than 20 days and was carried out entirely by hand. Not only the coach got the familiar colors. On the wheels we also see an orange accent and in the interior you will find seat belts in that color. Of course there are also some Gulf logos added there.

McLaren wants to show what is possible with this 720S. It is also an additional ‘party edition’ in honor of the McLaren and Gulf partnership. Before that, it didn’t just tackle the 720S. Anyone watching the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend will also see the livery in action there. On Sunday, McLaren presented a one-off Gulf livery for its Formula 1 car.
