McLaren has built a special version of the 765LT. The unique example of the superlative 720S has been packed with extras by McLaren Special Operations and is intended to show what McLaren’s personalization department has to offer.
Anyone who has a few tons to break can spend his or her euros on one of the many super or hypercars that car land has to offer. With cars such as the GT, Artura, 720S, 765LT, Elva, Speedtail and all their derivatives, McLaren already has a fairly wide range that covers almost the entire muscle spectrum. Anyone who has found his McLaren and after endless fiddling in the configurator has not been able to find the perfect version, can knock on McLaren’s Special Vechicle Operations (MSO). With this special 765LT, that personalization department wants to show what it’s all about.
The McLaren 765LT on these plates has a ‘flip-flop paint’ in which the color of the car changes based on the light. There are purple, gold and orange shades in the paint. Things like splitters, side skirts and side mirror caps are finished in high-gloss carbon fiber and the visual indulgence is further enhanced by an additional air scoop on the roof and 10-spoke ‘ultra-light’ alloy with orange brake calipers behind it. The interior has also been decorated by MSO. McLaren speaks of the arrival of special strips of carbon fiber, inserts around the speakers and orange-colored six-point seat belts.
The technology of this special 765LT has not been tinkered with and that means that the more intense brother of the McLaren 720S has a variant of the twinturbo 4.0 V8 that has been increased to 765 hp and 800 Nm. With that, the 765LT can reach a speed of 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. If you press the accelerator pedal against the ground for another 4.4 seconds, you will dash over the asphalt at 200 km/h. Fun fact: According to McLaren, about 25 percent of all 765LTs sold in Europe, the Middle East and Africa have been overhauled by MSO.
