Mike Flewitt steps down as CEO of McLaren Automotive. The Briton is calling it quits after eight years and was at the helm during the brand’s most successful period as a car manufacturer.
Mike Flewitt can proudly look back on his time as CEO of McLaren Automotive. The Liverpool-born CEO took the helm when McLaren Automotive only had the 12C on offer and the P1 just appeared on the scene. Since then, McLaren’s portfolio has expanded rapidly, establishing itself for the first time in its history as more than just a hyper-exclusive sports car manufacturer.
It is not entirely clear why Flewitt will stop as CEO and whether he will remain connected to McLaren in one way or another. Flewitt does indicate that he will continue to follow the continuation of McLaren’s success with ‘interest’. So it sounds like a departure on good terms. Flewitt joined McLaren Automotive in 2012 as COO and became CEO a year later. He was previously vice president of production at Ford of Europe. A successor has not yet been found. For now, McLaren Group chairman Paul Walsh leads McLaren Automotive.
