The fact that the corona crisis dealt hard blows to McLaren has trickled through in recent months. New half-year figures confirm the suspicion: McLaren ends deep in the red.
The British sports car brand has lost 70 percent of its sales in the first half of this year. At the bottom of the line, ‘only’ 230 million euros remained. This is because McLaren could only deliver 584 cars, compared to 2,355 cars in the same period in 2019. That reports Automobiel Management.
With these deep red numbers, the future of McLaren does not seem very bright. But through a bridging loan, the brand can still hold out for the time being. With this loan, McLaren received 165 million euros to bridge this crisis. McLaren itself also sees the future positively. According to the manufacturer, the order book is full and the company hopes to have sold 1,500 cars by 2021. If the market picks up even further, there could be a few hundred more.
